About Us
We work across a wide range of project types, from new build developments through to refurbishment, plant replacement and low-carbon retrofit. Some schemes involve designing efficient building services from the ground up, while others require careful upgrades within constrained, operational buildings.
This breadth of experience helps us balance technical performance with practical delivery. We understand the different demands of designing for a new development compared with upgrading an existing site, and we tailor our input accordingly.
We support projects across education, leisure, public sector, healthcare, commercial and mixed-use buildings. Many of these environments are operationally sensitive, budget-conscious and technically complex, requiring a pragmatic design approach and clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Clients work with Jupiter Engineering because we provide straightforward, engineering-led support that is practical and responsive to the realities of each project. We focus on clear thinking, coordinated design and realistic solutions rather than unnecessary complexity.
Our work is shaped by a strong understanding of building services, decarbonisation and system performance, alongside the need to deliver projects that are buildable, maintainable and aligned with the client’s objectives.
Directors
Jupiter Engineering is led by directors with complementary mechanical and electrical expertise, giving clients a coordinated approach to building services design across both new build and existing buildings. Our director-led model means clients benefit from clear technical input, practical decision-making and senior involvement throughout the lifecycle of a project.
Together, Jupiter’s directors provide clear technical leadership across mechanical and electrical design, helping clients develop practical, coordinated solutions that work in the real world.
Jonathan Aird
Jon leads Jupiter Engineering’s mechanical and decarbonisation work, supporting projects across heat pump design, heat decarbonisation planning and low-carbon building services. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of CIBSE with a degree in Building Services, bringing a practical and technically rigorous approach to project delivery.
Alex Ramsden
Alex leads the electrical design side of Jupiter Engineering, supporting projects across power distribution, infrastructure and upgrades, lighting, AV, controls coordination, photovoltaic panels and wider building services integration. He brings a practical and coordinated approach to electrical design across both new build and existing buildings.
We care about delivering engineering that makes a meaningful difference to the buildings we work on. That may mean reducing carbon emissions, improving energy performance, replacing ageing infrastructure, supporting better comfort conditions or helping clients plan a more resilient long-term strategy.
Our focus is on producing work that is thoughtful, technically sound and useful — giving clients confidence in the decisions they make and the direction their projects take.
-
Yes — our team provides integrated mechanical and electrical engineering design, covering heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, and electrical distribution.
-
We carry out heat decarbonisation plans, energy surveys, feasibility studies, and detailed designs, ensuring compliance with schemes such as the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS). We like to understand your building first to find the best method for reducing carbon and energy costs. Every building is different and requires different techniques.
-
We deliver projects across education, healthcare, leisure, retail, and the public sector — including multiple PSDS-funded schemes.
-
We are based in the UK and support projects nationwide, offering both on-site and remote consultancy.
-
Yes — we have extensive experience in navigating funding schemes and can align our designs with grant requirements to maximise your chances of success.
-
We provide full mechanical and electrical design services from concept to detailed design, covering all RIBA stages. This includes feasibility studies, outline and detailed design, specification, coordination with architects and other consultants, and support during construction. Our designs are tailored to meet project requirements, regulatory standards, and sustainability targets, including BREEAM and Passivhaus
